In 2023, the BMW Group unveiled its “BMW Surround View” technology for the first time at its annual earnings conference. This innovative display system will be installed for the first time in a new generation of vehicles that will go into production in 2025. Recently, the new-generation BMW iX3 test vehicle completed the world’s first test in France, and its panoramic iDrive interactive system is also one of the highlights of the model. Next-generation BMW iX3 (configure | inquiry) Production version BMW pioneered the panoramic iDrive. Through the deep integration of the 3D head-up display and the real road, the technology projects key information such as navigation instructions and driving data onto the black-coated area under the windshield at the height of the eye level, forming an IMAX-like visual effect. Even in bright light environments, the display remains clearly visible. It is worth noting that the panoramic iDrive system innovatively integrates a positioning solution developed by the Chinese team. Based on the AI model jointly developed with Alibaba, the recognition accuracy of its intelligent voice assistant has reached 99%. It is also deeply integrated with China’s HarmonyOS NEXT, Huawei HiCar, and MyBMW apps, supporting seamless interconnection with smart devices. BMW China has established the SkyLab Human-Computer Interaction User Experience Research Center in the region. Through eye tracker and real-world user experience testing, the fixation time of each micro-interaction animation in the cockpit is ensured to be less than 2 seconds, which not only ensures digital immersion, but also strictly adheres to the safety bottom line of driving. BMW has always been committed to innovation. From the first use of HUD technology in European production cars 20 years ago to the introduction of the panoramic iDrive, it continues to drive innovation in the human-vehicle interaction experience. Will the BMW Panorama iDrive redefine new standards for human-vehicle interaction in the future?
