2023 CES: BMW launched the new generation of extrasensory intelligent cockpit in the world.

At the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), BMW launched a new generation of extrasensory smart cockpit in the world-BMW pioneered panoramic iDrive and BMW’s new generation operating system X. BMW’s first panoramic iDrive covers many interactive “black technologies”, and four new interactive interfaces in the car redefine human-computer interaction: the industry-first panoramic display of apparent horizon, the new 3D head-up display, the extrasensory intelligent steering wheel and BMW’s first centripetal control. The four interactive interfaces are virtual and real, so that the information can focus on the driver’s central vision and optimize the information layout.

As the software platform of BMW’s first panoramic iDrive, BMW released its own new generation operating system X, which can give full play to the interactive ability of the new generation of extrasensory intelligent cockpit. In China, BMW also joined hands with local top technology partners to integrate the generative AI big language model into BMW’s intelligent personal assistant, greatly improving the information retrieval and system response capability of the intelligent cockpit.

BMW’s first panoramic iDrive will be the first to be applied to BMW’s new generation models at the end of 2023, and will be carried on more future BMW models later. The new generation is not only a car, but also marks the subversive innovation of BMW in intelligence and human-computer interaction, and explains a leap in design, technology and concept of BMW brands and products. The new generation of BMW models will be equipped with a brand-new electronic and electrical architecture, including four “super brains”, and the computing power of the whole vehicle will be greatly improved, laying a solid foundation for the intelligent digital experience and the improvement of pure driving pleasure.

“The control and operation concept of BMW’s first panoramic iDrive brings together the pioneering achievements and technical leadership of BMW Group in the field of human-computer interaction for 23 years. Just as BMW invented the head-up display technology decades ago, the panoramic display of apparent horizon is the first in the industry and will bring subversive interactive experience to users, “said Mr. Wei Bofan, the director in charge of research and development of BMW Group.” The new generation of BMW operating system X is the intelligent nerve center of the new generation of extrasensory intelligent cockpit, once again setting the industry benchmark for multimodal human-computer interaction. ”

“BMW’s first panoramic iDrive is innovating the way people interact with cars. BMW is committed to making people’s interaction with cars more natural and relaxed, “said Mr. Gao Xiang, President and CEO of BMW Group Greater China.” BMW’s first panoramic iDrive is equipped with BMW’s new generation operating system X, which is a future-oriented intelligent digital system specially designed for new generation models. It provides simple and intuitive operation, pleasant personalized driving experience, and embodies the excellent digital technology level. BMW’s new generation of intelligent personal assistants is equipped with the AI big language model jointly developed with China’s head partners, which will have more powerful interactive functions. ”

Four new interactive interfaces redefine BMW’s unique “driver-centered” human-computer interaction experience.

Everything is centered on the driving experience, which makes the driver feel at ease and fully control the vehicle. This concept is fully reflected in the design of BMW’s first panoramic iDrive human-computer interaction. BMW pioneered the four core interactive interfaces of Panoramic iDrive to cooperate with each other, creating an intuitive, easy-to-use, more ergonomic, full-sensory, multi-modal human-computer interaction experience with the subtle cooperation of “physical buttons-touch feedback-voice control”.

The industry’s first panoramic display of apparent horizon is based on the subversive ultra-close projection head-up display technology independently developed by BMW. Apparent horizon panoramic display revolutionarily replaces the traditional instrument panel, and can project information on the black coating on the lower part of the windshield in the range from A-pillar to A-pillar, providing large-area, high-precision and far-field display effect. The new 3D head-up display is located above the panoramic display of apparent horizon, which can project the navigation and autopilot information into the driver’s best field of vision, and the information is presented in an orderly way. BMW Group has applied for several patents for apparent horizon panoramic display and 3D head-up display, which highlights BMW’s technical strength and innovative advantages in these two head-up displays.

BMW pioneered the use of matrix backlight technology in centripetal control, and realized higher dynamic contrast, finer details of image quality and enhanced visual experience through accurate independent division light control. The screen adopts the only “free cutting” design in the industry, and the left and right sides of the screen are inclined to the driver by 17.5, giving full consideration to ergonomics, so that the driver can have a “golden perspective” and can obtain and touch screen information more easily, more intently and safely. The extrasensory intelligent steering wheel adopts two innovative technologies of “active tactile feedback” and “layered display”, which is the perfect interpretation of BMW’s “ShyTech” technology concept. The surface of the button has active tactile feedback and is exquisitely designed. The button will be lit when the function is available, and the driver can easily operate it without looking away.
